Check out some of the photo's from the New Zealand Senior Nationals held from September 7 - 11. SquashGym witnessed a fantastic five days of Squash with all the top players in the country gracing our courts. The 'all glass court' that was here for the World Juniors last year was back for the semi final and finals stages. It was set up across the road in the Gymnasium at Normal Intermediate School. We had 300 or so spectators for the finals on the Sunday which created a great atmosphere. To cap it all of Moari Television broadcast the finals live, the first time these champs have been televised for a number of years.
Kashif Shuja and Shelley Kitchen took out the Mens and Womens titles respectively. Palmerston North's Josh Greenfield finished a creditable 3rd which led to his selection in the New Zealand Senior Mens team for the World Champs in India later this year. He is the first Palmerston North player to be selected for New Zealand for the World Champs since the 60's.
In the Men's teams event, Wellington upset the highly fancied Auckland team on count back to take the title. The Central men finished 3rd. In the Women's, Central upset Bay of Plenty to make the final against Auckland. Auckland had a very strong team and proved to good the Central women winning 4 - 0.
